Special Info   RAYMOND DAVID FRANKLYN was born in Mt. Craven, St. Patrick’s Grenada West Indies, to the parents Anton and Rose Franklyn on August 27, 1946. He was the second of three children, brothers Thaddeus (deceased) and Francis Franklyn. Raymond, as a young boy grew up in Concord, St. John’s and attended Primary school there. He enjoyed his boy days, filled with good times playing sports such as cricket and football, and discovered his love of fishing. Raymond was brought up in the Catholic Church. Raymond would visit his mother who lived in Mt. Craven, St. Patrick’s whenever he had a spare moment out of school, and on holidays. Raymond had an imposing personality that was visible due to his 6 foot 4 inches frame. He developed an appetite for working hard at an early age and as such, he signed up for the Farm program and was called to work one tour on the Farms, in Florida USA. Raymond was also an insurance salesman in Grenada and always had a talent for speaking. He also worked as a Male Nurse in St. George’s General Hospital. Subsequently, Raymond joined the Royal Grenada Police Force in 1974-1979. During which time, he quickly rose through the ranks to Sergeant where he personally worked with Sir Eric Matthew Gary, the-then Prime Minister of Grenada, as part of his personal security detail. You could often have seen Raymond, a towering figure, riding his motorcycle, accompanying the Prime Minister on his various duties across the Country. He idolized Gary. Raymond paid particular attention to Gary’s sense of style, fashion and elegance. So much so, Raymond loved dressing and was always a sharp guy. Raymond migrated to the United States of America in 1979. He began working in the security field and then transitioned back into the medical field, as a nursing assistant. Raymond spent over twenty years working at the USP Bayview nursing home of Long Beach, NY, as well as the Lawrence Nursing Home in Far Rockaway, New York. Raymond was a Mason. He thoroughly enjoyed boating, diving and fishing. He loved the water. He also had a passion for traveling, and he traveled all over the World. He was also a lover of the Casino and of fine foods. Raymond is survived by his wife Michel Zulmene, aunt Cynthia; six children, Nicholas, Elvis, Emond, Nigel, Sheldon, Marcus; two grandchildren Haley and Christopher Franklyn, as well as, his very close friend Julia Chapman and many more dear family members and friends that are too much to mention. His soul will certainly Rest In Peace, because as complicated as he was, he will be remembered as the charming and kindhearted person he was.
