Special Info  We’re gathered here today to celebrate the life of Bernadette Connell-Julien, a truly wonderful and amazing woman who left to be with the Lord on April 26, 2023 at the age of 71. Bernadette was born on November 8, 1951 in Grand-bras, St Andrews, Grenada to the late Doris Neptune and Sydney Connell. She attended the St Andrews Methodist School and was blessed early in life with two (2) wonderful children, Barbara and Tyrone. In 1970 she joined the Edwards family where she was affectionately known as Bun. As a young adult she was employed as a clerk in Frenchies Department Store in St George’s Grenada. In 1978 at the age of 27 she migrated to the USA to join her father, Sydney and was later joined by her children Barbara and Tyrone. Bernadette attained her certification as a Home Health aide in 1981, a job she was passionate about until her retirement. It was during that period in 1989 she married her longtime love, Denhart Julien. Bernadette, fondly came to be known as “Ma” was a kind and caring person and a joy to be around. She made a great impact on many lives. She will always be remembered for her generosity. Bernadette would give you the shirt off her back or her last dollar if she had to and she did it with genuine love from within. She was an influential mother figure to many of Barbara’s and Tyrone’s friends. She made numerous friends throughout her life and remained faithful to them until her passing. Everyone who knew Bernadette knew of her unconditional love for children. She became the ultimate babysitter, when anyone had a party to attend and you ask where are the kids? the response would be “Ma!”. She must have babysat for the entire neighborhood. We all know Bernadette had a passion for cooking, she was always cooking up a storm. You could never visit her house and not be fed, or even be over-fed, but you can be sure to leave with containers of food, enough to feed an army. She was always the peace-maker and would never let you hold a grudge, always saying “give up your right for peace”. These words were her anthem. Ma will always be remembered for her mischievous laugh and great sense of humor. She was skilled at making people laugh - to the point of tears. Even now we can hear her favorite lines echoing in our ears - “Mama’s boy”, or “Mama’s girl” - “no way Jose”, and even “you retard”. That was Ma!! Left to Cherish her loving memories: her husband Denhart Julien, her two (2) children Barbara and Tyrone. Son-in-law, Desmond Phillip, daughter in Law Jamila, Grand children Deshawn, Denzel, Diandra & Dannelle Phillip; Alleyah, Tyler, Kieran, & Kylerr Connell and Great grandson, Kayseri Phillip. Brothers, Denis, & Desmond Neptune in Grenada. Alonzo & Dunstan Connell and Samuel Gurles. Sisters, Phyllis Thomas, Berica Roberts, Monica Neptune, Janice Lawson and Dorcas Lampkin. Sisters-in-Law, Barbara, and Sandra Julien. Brothers-in-Law Robert Millett, Michael, Carlyle & Winston Julien. Many nieces and nephews too many to mention other close friends including Aunty Mary, Ann, Shirley Pierre, Gail, Cicera Flemming, Angel, Courtney and the Edwards from the Bocas in Grenada, Canada and the USA. Bernadette truly provided her husband, children and grandchildren with all of the love, comfort, hospitality and humor that a family could ever ask for. Bernadette loved life and lived it to the fullest. She left a legacy of love which will serve as an emblem of her remembrance. Her life was a blessing and her memory a treasure, she was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. We know heaven must be beautiful because it has gained an angel like you. We love you Ma, rest in peace until we meet again. Lovingly submitted, The Connell/Julien & Phillip family
