Special Info  Hugh Hosten a.k.a. “Bring-Az” was born on May 11th, 1947, to the parents of Dorril Hosten and Lena Edwards in the village of Victoria St. Mark in Grenada. He was the 10th child of 12 children. In his childhood years, Hugh attended the St. John’s Anglican Primary School. As a young boy he loved to fish, hang out with his friends, and was an acolyte at the Anglican Church in Victoria. In 1968, he welcomed his first born, a son named Bobran. As a young man he pursued a career in the Royal Grenada Police Force where he spent many years and eventually got promoted to Corporal. He worked at Government House where he would escort Governor General Sir Paul Scoon. A few years later, Hugh met a lovely young lady named Rose from the village of Union St. Mark and on April 19th, 1973, they got married. One year later, they welcomed a beautiful daughter named Nicol, his pride and joy. Hugh loved riding his police bike where he would often have his daughter sit at the front parading her around Victoria, which she enjoyed. After many years as a policeman, in 1979 Hugh decided to leave the police force and migrate to the United States for a better life for he and his family. Three years later, his wife and daughter joined him. There, he worked arduously as a maintenance worker at a hotel in NYC to provide for his family. Unfortunately, after 18 years of marriage, in 1991, Hugh and his wife separated and he became a bachelor once again. Hugh’s favorite music was Calypso. He loved calypsonians like The Lord Kitchener and The Mighty Sparrow. Every weekend he would play Kitchener’s “Suga Boom Boom” and Sparrow’s “Jean and Dinah” over and over. Anyone who knew Hugh knew that he loved to have a few drinks. As he would say “Bend his Elbow” you must bend your elbow to have a drink. That was his comfort. He also loved the ladies, and the ladies loved him because of his good looks and bright personality. Hugh had a special niece named Kathy-Ann aka “black girl”. They loved spending time together, joking around and bending their elbows. He loved his niece like a daughter, and she loved her uncle like a father. Hugh loved his family and being around friends, having a few drinks, ole talking and having a good laugh. He was the Father of: Nicol Hosten in Grenada and Bobran King in the UK, Grand Father of: Constable Tessana Annisa Paul of the RGPF and Elroy Stanislaus, Great Grand Father of: Amoura and Eleandrey Brother of: Beatrice, Sheila, Anthony and Peter in the USA, Kanyute and Sylvan in the UK, Clera in Grenada Uncle of many including: Kathy-Ann, Spence, Beryl, Conrad, Alwin, Hess, Susan, Rex, Jimmy, Elmond, Patsy, Shelley, Shallene, Louise, Al, Carlene, Oswald and Pope Paul, His Caregivers: Sharon and Sandra Many relatives and friends including: Mike in the USA, the Forsythe and Wilson families of Bonair, St. Mark, friends and neighbours of Victoria, St. Mark and the USA. He will truly be missed. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
