Adeline Pierre (99), of Brooklyn, NY passed away on Sunday, April 2 nd ,
2023, at the Marcus Garvey Nursing Home in Crown Heights. Adeline was
born in Les Cayes, Haiti on October 8 th , 1923.
Adeline moved from Les Cayes to Port-au-Prince, Haiti with her mother,
Therese (Eugenie) Bernabe and younger sister, Joceline Pierre when she
was very young. In Port-au-Prince, her mother operated a fabric and
sewing materials store, while Adeline and her sister attended school. In
1962, Adeline traveled to America. She settled in Brooklyn, NY and was
married Renan Belfort(div), also from Haiti. Together, the couple had two
beautiful daughters, Marlene Smith (nee Belfort) and Elsie Pressior (nee
Belfort)
Adeline and her girls lived in a home she purchased in the Crown Heights
section of Brooklyn. She worked for many years as a Health Care Aide and
was well respected in the community as a mother, homeowner, and
Healthcare worker.
Adeline was an accomplished seamstress and dedicated church goer. She
loved baking, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Adeline was predeceased by her mother Therese (Eugenie) Bernabe, her
sister Joceline Pierre and nephew Gerard Saintilus Jr.
She is survived by her daughters: Marlene Smith and Elsie Pressior, sons-
in-law: Robert Smith and Yves Pressior, grandsons: Sharod James (wife,
Danny), Shamel James, Ian John, Jeremi Remy, granddaughter: Jasmine
McKinney, great grandchildren: Jayden James and Addison James, nieces:
Judie James (nee Saintilus) (husband, Alex James), Mona Hall (nee
Saintilus) (husband, Robert Hall) and grandnephews: Steven Donat, Bryan
Donat, and Trevon James, grandniece: Sydney Hall, and a host of other
family and friends that were near and dear to her. |
