James Joshua Saunders (Emerson), was born on June 2, 1052, in Huddon
Smith Street, Victoria St. Marks, Grenada, to parents Emma and Joseph
Noel Saunders. He departed this life on December 2, 2023. He was a
vibrant soul whose journey began at St. Marks Anglican School, where he
laid the foundation for his lifelong love for learning.
In 1977, he embarked on a new chapter in the United States of America,
bringing with him his passion for music and his melodious voice that
resonated with all who had the pleasure of hearing it.
Music was his heart’s language, and through it, he touched the lives of
many. His love for travelling especially to his homeland Grenada, brought
him immeasurable joy and connected him deeply to his roots.
A dedicated employee, James served as a Custodian at CEB School for 28
years and continued his service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Center from
2013 until his passing.
He was married to Anna Jesse Saunders on June 29, 2010. Emerson is
survived by his wife, Anna and children Allister, Kevin and stepchildren
Davelle, Curlyn, Alisha, and Jeron. Emerson had a special place in his heart
for his beloved cat, Dae, who was a cherished companion in his life.
His memories will live on through his siblings: Ethlene, Eudora, Eddington,
Wellington, Francis, Simone, Monica, Gabriel, Ross, Denise, and Denise and
Claudia. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, touching the lives
of numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law Ethel Charles and Leatha
Saunders, cousins Gemma, Samuel, Glenda, and Lauren, mother-in-law
Georgiana Morain, and father-in-law the late Jerome Morain.
James Joshua Saunders (Emerson) leaves behind a legacy. He will be
deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. |
